Misbehavior. Back talk. Bad decisions. Emotional meltdowns. The silent treatment. There are so many ways our children can challenge our parenting skills – and who has time to figure out how to handle them all?

This online series is for busy parents who want to improve their communication and conflict resolution parenting skills, but can’t spare much more than a lunch hour. Held over Zoom, each of the four one-hour sessions features a practical strategy for responding to common parenting challenges. Sessions typically include a brief presentation with handouts, discussion, and practice.

The four courses may be taken separately or as a series. They include:

Good Boss-Bad Boss

March 23, 12-1 pm AZ time

How is being a parent like being a boss? Participants will:

  • Increase their awareness of their parenting style
  • Gain insight into their child’s experience
  • Consider and discuss ways to incorporate a different perspective

From Lecturing to Listening

April 13, 12-1pm AZ time

When the conversation is important, listening is a parent’s best friend. Participants will:

  • Learn a simple 3-part listening response
  • Practice using the response
  • Consider personal applications

The Look

May 4, 12-1 pm AZ time

This discipline tool preserves dignity – yours and theirs. Participants will:

  • Learn a calm yet powerful response to back talk and defiance
  • Practice using the response
  • Consider personal applications

Pouring Words on Feelings

May 25, 12-1 pm AZ time

What’s an effective way to respond to a temper tantrum? Participants will:

  • Learn how identifying feelings and needs can help kids feel better
  • Practice using the response
  • Consider personal applications

Training Refund Policy:

  • Cancellation up to 3 days before the training: Receives a 90% refund (10% Administration Fee).
  • Cancellation 3 days prior to the training: Receives a 40% refund; may transfer to the next workshop of same value; or find a replacement person to take your place.
  • Cancellation or no-show the day of workshop: Forfeit fee.
