Senior Companion Program: A national volunteer service initiative through which low-income women and men 55 years of age and older receive stipends to provide respite, transportation and person-to-person support and companion services to homebound elderly adults and people with disabilities.

It’s hard to say who benefits more – the clients, whose quality of life improves as they feel less isolated, or the companions themselves. Our volunteers say helping others enriches their lives and helps them work through their own aches and pains. Call and volunteer today!
To be a Senior Companion, you must:
- Be at least 55 years old
- Meet income eligibility requirements
- Be physically able and willing to volunteer approximately 20 hours per week
- Desire to make a difference in the lives of others
- Have strong English skills
Benefits of being a Senior Companion include:
- A tax-free stipend ($2.65 per hour)
- Reimbursement for approved travel and meals
- Additional accident and liability insurance coverage while on volunteer duty
- Annual physical examination
- Pre-service orientation and monthly training sessions
To receive Senior Companion assistance: Eligibility is not income- or age-dependent, but priority is given to those with the greatest economic and social need.
